Good morning! It’s Tuesday, September 5th.

Telephone Tuesday. Here’s something interesting… because it’s the day after a holiday weekend and because so many schools are back in action, the day after Labor Day can see up to 50% more business phone calls than any other day of the year.

That’s a fun little fact!

And now, the news.

Putin and Kim Jong Un to Meet in Russia

Hey, here’s a story of a story you never really want to hear (sorry to start this way on the first day back to work)… North Korean leader Kim Jong Un plans to visit Russian President Vladimir Putin later this month to discuss a possible weapons deal, to aid him in his invasion and attack on Ukraine.

You know when you were in high school and there were two bullies and you’d just think “man, I hope they don’t have math together or something.” And then they do?

This is like that. Except… much much worse.

Not to worry! I’m not the only one who knows. A senior National Security Council administration official, who spoke to the Washington Post on the condition of “shh my name is a secret” said, “If they think they can do this furtively without international awareness then they are mistaken.”

So uh… we’ll just see what happens.

Dr. Biden Has Covid

Dr. Jill Biden has tested positive for Covid. She’s experiencing minor symptoms. The President is still testing negative. I don’t… I don’t have anything else to say about that.

I uh… I don’t have anything else to add. Be safe.

Denny’s Car Crash

Twenty-three people were injured, with non-life threatening injuries, after a car drove into the wall of a Rosenburg, Texas (just outside of Houston) Denny’s on Monday.

An investigation is ongoing. Which is wild because it feels like it’s pretty obvious what happened. Because of how there wasn’t a car in the restaurant before. And then there was. And it wasn’t supposed to be there.

Burning Man

Tens of thousands of people were stranded at Burning Man over the weekend, after a storm rolled through and authorities told attendees to shelter in place.

One person died at the festival, but although cause of death is still being investigated, organizers say it was not weather-related.

The most surprising story to come out of this? Kid Rock goes to Burning Man. A fact we learned after it made news that he began walking out of Burning Man before a fan picked him up.

I hope they’re friends now. I love that friendship origin story.

The White House and President Biden are aware of the situation, which I only mentioned because imagine having to be the briefer that has to have a conversation with President Biden that starts with “an update on Burning Man, sir.”

And that’s it. That’s the news.

Not a lot of news when everyone’s stuck at Burning Man.

Is it possible that all the news makers go to Burning Man?

Probably not, but it’s funny to imagine like… Marky Meads can’t make news about how he wants his trial moved, because he was busy trading his handmade necklaces for bandaids at Burning Man.

I’m proud of… ew, not Mark Meadows. That would be wild.

I’m proud of people getting out there and making those business calls today. No one wants to make a phone call on a normal day, but on the day after a long weekend?

Respect the hustle!
